State of Mind
62 x 43" backlit transparency
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport
One in a series of public service messages sponsored by Robin Imaging of Cincinnati for Clear Channel Airport Advertising. The image is provided with a short credit for Robin Imaging and a link to the artist’s website. The program is intended to support the arts when unsold space is available at any of approximately 200 airports in the US.
Other “Transformations Series” artwork by Eric Olson currently appears in concourse spaces at Dayton International Airport in Dayton OH, and Blue Grass International Airport in Lexington, KY.
Independent curator Anna M. Foglia, writing about the Transformation series, says, “In his Transformations series, Eric Olson uses photography to disguise itself. By challenging the traditions of the media, he removes the entities on both sides of the lens - the creator of the image and the object being photographed. What we are left with is a pure image. The natural landscape has been dissolved of objective literacy. What resides is the essence of a place, a time, or a memory from an innate subjective experience rather than an automatic objective construct."
